Kwan Tak Hing (1905-1996) was a Hong Kong martial arts actor and instructor. He is best known for his iconic role as Wong Fei Hung in over 70 films, including The True Story of Wong Fei Hung and Drunken Master.
Hing started learning martial arts at a young age and became skilled in Hung Gar kung fu. He opened his own martial arts school in Hong Kong and became famous for his teachings. In 1949, he was invited by the Shaw Brothers to star as Wong Fei Hung in their film series, which he continued for over 30 years.
Hing was known for his disciplined and respectful demeanor on and off screen. He was highly respected in the Hong Kong film industry and was awarded numerous honors, including the Hong Kong Film Award for lifetime achievement.
After retiring from acting, Hing returned to teaching martial arts and founded the Kwan Tak Hing Tai Chi Institute. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 91.
